The unbeaten, Europe #1 Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (5-0) head to Frankfurt, Germany Saturday, June 1 to face the Frankfurt Universe in a rematch of German Bowl XL.
Frankfurt has opened the 2019 with four wins, beating the Ingolstadt Dukes last week 37-13, after getting by the Munich Cowboys the week before 24-17.They had downed the Allgau Comets 20-0 in their opening game and then defeated the Marburg Mercenaries 20-14.
For Frankfurt, Steve Cluley has thrown for 1,049 yards and 11 touchdowns with Sebastian Sagne (327 yds, 8 TDs), Antony Brooks (328 yds) and George Robinson (131 yds), as his leading targets. Running back Oscar Nevermann from Sweden has a total of 157 yards rushing in the four games.
The Unicorns enter the game on a 39 game winning streak stretching back to the 2016 German Bowl and have looked just as impressive as ever this year. This year they have beaten the Marburg Mercenaries 52-9, the Ingolstadt Dukes 24-0, the Munich Cowboys 35-3, Kirchdorf Wildcats 51-12 and Stuttgart Scorpions 63-13.
Unicorns QB Jadrian Clark is the second most efficient passer in the GFL with a rating of 180.2 He has thrown for 1,124 yards and 14 TDs in the five wins this year. His top receiver so far has been Tyler Rutenbeck with 16 catches for 410 yards and 7 TDs. Behind him in 2nd is Nate Robitaille with 381 yards receiving. As a team, the Unicorns have only rushed for 738 yards in five games with RB Maurice Schuele the top rusher with 253 yards.
Defensively, the Unicorns lead the GFL giving up just 7.4 points a game and are second best in yards allowed with 206. Frankfurt is right behind though, giving up just 209 yards a game.
