The Marburg Mercenaries (0-2) will try to capture their first win of the season when they host the 1-0 Frankfurt Universe, Sunday, May 12 at Georg-Gaßmann-Stadion in Marburg in German Football League action.
The Mercenaries have dropped their first two games of the year in 2019, losing 52-9 to the defending champion Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns and then 30-21 to the Stuttgart Scorpions.
Frankfurt opened their season by blanking the Allgäu Comets, 20-0.
Marburg quarterback Jake Sullivan has started the 2019 campaign with modest numbers throwing for 489 yards and three touchdowns in two games while rushing for 87 and another touchdown. Marvin Rutsch has caught 16 passes for 84 yards while teammate Triston McCathem has 13 for 96 and one touchdown and has rushed for 63 yards.
For Frankfurt, Steve Cluley threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Comets with George Robinson, Sebastian Sagne, David Merkl and Antony Brooks as his leading targets. Running back Oscar Nevermann from Sweden carried the ball eight times for only 30 yards.
The Universe defense held Allgäu to 88 yards of offense.
This could be a long day for Marburg unless they can get fired up by their home crowd.
