LIVESTREAM Germany PPV: Braunschweig New Yorker Lions @ Kiel Baltic Hurricanes, May 11, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10 am EDT)
The German Football League kicks off the 2024 season with the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes playing host to the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions Saturday, May 11 at Kilia Stadion in Kiel.
After a successful regular season and deep playoff run, the New Yorker Lions will look to start the 2024 season off right as they travel to Kiel to face the Hurricanes.
Braunschweig had a very successful season going 10-2 and making it to the semifinals before falling short to the eventual champs, the Potsdam Royals. They were able to bring back defensive coordinator Dave Likins to lead the defense and signed a plethora of players for 2024.

One glaring difference will be at the quarterback position. Kare Lyles would be the man last season. This year we will see Lamar Jordan II. Jordan spent time in the ELF with the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2022, but as a receiver. This past offseason, the former collegiate quarterback with New Mexico (NCAA D-I), signed with the Lions and got back behind center to lead the New Yorkers to another potential deep playoff run under head coach Troy Tomlin.
On the other side, the hosting Kiel Baltic Hurricanes will look to start off strong and get a win against one of Germany’s top teams. Last season, under longtime coach Tom Zorn, the Hurricanes had a disappointing 1-11 season.
This year they will also have a fresh face behind center with 23-year-old American Nate Hayden, who was brought in this offseason to captain the Hurricanes in 2024. Hayden was most successful in college when he was named an NJCAA First-Team All-American and All-Conference player at Minnesota Community and Technical College with over 2,500 passing yards and 18 touchdown passes. He will look to bring a new energy to a struggling Kiel offense.
With two quarterbacks starting their first games with their new teams, this is definitely a game to tune into on Saturday if you’re excited to see young/new talent in the GFL for the 2024 season.
