LIVESTREAM Germany: Berlin Rebels @ Dresden Monarchs, July 10, 15:00 CET (3 pm, 09:00 am ET)

The first place Dresden Monarchs (3-1) host the Berlin Rebels (1-3) in this GFL North rivalry game, Saturday, July 10.

Expect Dresden to have strong support today as the city has loosened COVID-19 restrictions and Monarchs fans have been waiting a long time to be able to cheer on their team.

The red-hot Monarchs return home after shutting down a talented Potsdam team. The Monarchs defense was able to stop the Royals on three fourth downs as they cruised to a 31-15 victory. This week, look for Swiss safety Tim Hagmann to take away receiver Jason Harris and an up and down Rebels passing game. British defensive back Jason Selormy aims for a repeat performance after an impressive outing against Potsdam.

Monarchs quarterback KJ Carta-Samuels is poised for another big day statistically, as the former Colorado State (NCAA D1) passer is averaging an impressive 352 yards a game. With over 40 pass attempts a game, the first-year GFL signal caller has played efficiently, throwing only three interceptions in comparison to 18 touchdowns and 1,408 yards in only four games. Czech receiver Radim Kalous and former Michigan State Spartan (NCAA D1) Darrell Stewart Jr give this Dresden offense big play potential.

The Berlin Rebels on the other hand are coming off of a tough loss to the Cologne Crocodiles. Quarterback Darius Wade struggled to move the chains as the offense was only able to gain 206 total yards. Berlin will need to find a way to move the ball against a well-coached Dresden defense. Fans can expect Rebels athlete Paul Morant to get some touches on offense as he’s scored four touchdowns this season.

Defensively, Canadian defensive back James McCallum and German Gino Chongo have the daunting task of containing a potent Monarchs passing attack. The Rebels will need to get a solid pass rush from defensive lineman Michael Bauer and Maciej Jaroszewski in order to pull off the upset in Saxony today.

The Berlin Rebels are eager to play better after an uninspiring performance last week in Cologne on German television. Meanwhile, the Monarchs are feeling confident and will have the support of a rowdy Dresden crowd behind them as they look to stay in first place.
