The #18 ranked Kiel Baltic Hurricanes (1-1) host the #10 Berlin Rebels (1-0) in a third round matchup in the German Football League at Kilia Stadium in Kiel, Germany.
Both the Rebels and Hurricanes have a win against the Hamburg Huskies with Berlin blanking the Huskies 24-0 while the Hurricanes beat them 24-24. However, Kiel has also suffered a loss, losing to the Cologne Crocodiles in the opening weekend of the 2018 GFL season, 32-14.
Under new head coach Dan Disch, the Hurricanes have struggled to get their offense in gear. New quarterback Clayton Turner is still working to get in sync with his receivers Benedikt Englmann, Tim Albrecht and Kwame Ofori . Englemann leads with team with 119 yards receiving in two games. Running back Julian Ampaw has gained 168 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns in two games.
The Rebels coaching staff with head coach Kim Kuci, OC Cliff Madison and DC Josh Mandel are going into the third season together and have good chemistry.
Returning quarterback Terrell Robinson only needed to throw for 87 yards in the win over Hamburg but new running back Sean Richard rushed for 121 yards and one touchdowns. In fact, the Rebels are known for the great push the offensive line gets up front which powers their running game. This will certainly be the case this year. Also back is running back Chris Smith along with safety Jamaal White.
In 2017, these two teams faced each other twice and each came away with a win. Kiel won the first game 30-28 at home while the Rebels took the second game in Berlin 35-21.
