The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns (9-3) will play host to the Hildesheim Invaders (7-5) in the quarterfinal round of the German Football League.
The Unicorns finished first in the GFL South while Hildesheim wound up as the fourth seed in the GFL North.
Schwäbisch Hall finished the regular season on a two-game losing streak after having sewn up the top seed weeks before. The Invaders lost four in a row to finish the regular season after building up a 7-1 record.
The Unicorns will be facing he second highest scoring offense in the GFL as the Invaders averaged 33.1 points a game while Schwäbisch Hall scored 30.5. Defensively, the Unicorns have a slight edge giving up an average of 26.5 points game compared to almost 30 by Hildesheim.
Schwäbisch Hall quarterback Conor Miller has thrown for 1.811 yards and 23 touchdowns against six interceptions. However, he missed two of the last four games of the year so his status is unknown although he did play in the regular season finale. His key target is Jason-Matthew Sharsh who has 50 receptions for 732 yards and 10 scores while Julius Klenk has 37 catches for 432 yards and five touchdowns. Veteran running back Mike Gentili was the number one rusher in the GFL averaging 110 yards per game on 1,110 total yards and 10 touchdowns in 10 games.
Hildesheim quarterback Nelson Hughes has thrown for 2,433 yards and 26 touchdowns in the 12 games with Lennart Stukenborg being one of his leading receivers with Lennart Stukenborg being one of his leading receivers with 36 receptions for 404 yards and three scores along with running back Jordan Grant who has 42 receptions for 404 yards. Grant has rushed for 943 yards and 10 scores, good for fourth in overall yardage and average yards per game (78.6) while Rayshon Mills has rushed for 544 yards and Hughes 566 yards and eight touchdowns.
This could well be the best game of the quarterfinals.
