The 7-3 Marseille Blue Stars, #2 seed from the French League of American Football South conference will play host to the North’s #3 seed, the 6-4 Saint-Ouen Cougars in the Wild Card playoff round.
The Cougars enter the game on a roll having won their last three games of the regular season, beating the Evry Corsaires 42-0, Rouen Leopards 24-14 and the La Courneuve Flash 24-0. Meanwhile, Marseille lost their final game of the year losing 28-21 to the Grenoble Centaures.
Marseille is led by the top quarterback in France in 2019, Chase Burton, who finished the season with 2,496 passing yards and 32 TDs. Meanwhile his counterpart with the Cougars, Luke Casey, finished fifth having thrown for 1,621 yards and 14 TDs. Casey was also his team’s leading rusher with 490 yards while his running back Isaac Amoako was right behind him with 388 yards.
For the Blue Stars, Emmanuel Ntoutoume was the top rusher with 273 yards and 5 TDs.
The winner of this game will face the Asnieres Molosses who finished first in the North conference, in the semifinals.
