The newly-promoted Villepinte Diables Rouges (1-0) will play host to the defending French champion Thonon Black Panthers (0-1), Saturday, February 1 as the French D1 Elite league heads into week #2 of the 2025 season.

The Diables Rouges opened the season with a 20-2 win over the Saint-Ouen Cougars while Thonon suffered a tough 6-5 loss to arch rivals, La Courneuve Flash.

Villepinte quarterback Badis Grami threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over the Cougars. Wide receiver Yoann Gau led the team with five catches for 70 yards while teammate Hugo Schwartz had two catches for 58 yards and one touchdown while Cedric Michaud caught four passes for 56 yards and two scores.

For the Black Panthers, Jose Tabora Jr. completed 22 of 32 passes for 218 yards but no touchdowns. Pierre-Yves Dayres led the team with four receptions for 44 yards.

Thonon surrendered 155 yards rushing against the Flash last week so expect Villepinte to test the Black Panthers front seven in today’s matchup.
