The undefeated Thonon Black Panthers (4-0), who sit in first place in the French American football league, head to Paris, France Saturday March 31, to face the fifth place Asnieres Molosses (2-2-1) at the Stade Leo Lagrange in a key game for both teams.
The Molosses are coming off a 43-26 win over the Aix-en-Provence Argonautes while Thonon handed the Saint-Ouen l’Aumône Cougars their first loss of the season, a 31-12 beating last week.
The Molosses have returned to the top league in France after a two year absence. They fell out in 2015 after finishing with a 3-7 record. Although they opened the season with two losses, a 20-6 loss to the Marseille Blue Stars and a 29-3 loss to the La Courneuve Flash, they have rebounded, blanking the Rouen Leopards 36-0, tying the Cougars 7-7 and then downing the Aix-en-Provence Argonautes 43-26.
The Black Panthers have scored 114 points in four games while giving up 45. Molosses’ offense has scored 95 points in five games but the defense has allowed an average of 16.4 points per game.
Thonon has four convincing wins under their belt, beating the defending champion La Courneuve Flash 23-20 to open the season and following that up with victories over the Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons (42-7), Marseille Blue Stars (18-6) and St. Ouen, 31-12.
Molosses running back/quarterback Jordan Moore has rushed for 424 yards and four touchdowns so far and has relinquished the quarterbacking duties to Camille Thouary. Thouary has thrown for 540 yards in four games but 511 total in the three games he has started.
Black Panthers quarterback Kyle Boehm has thrown for 666 yards and six touchdowns in four games and rushed for 161 yards and another touchdown. His favorite receiver has been Jefferson Alexandre who has hauled in 16 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns. Thonon’s running game, which was the key to the offense in 2017, is still impressive this year as the team has rushed for 561 yards total split between Johan Falk, Stephen Yepmo, Oktay Tuland and Boehm.
