One of the top matchups of Week 4 in France’s D1 Elite is the clash between the 2-1 Thonon Black Panthers and the 2-1 Amiens Spartiates.

The Black Panthers are the defending French champions and after falling 35-0 to the Flash in the opening week, they have bounced back with two wins, beating the Cougars 28-27 in an intense battle in week 2, and rolling over the Vikings in week 3 by a score of 53-0.

Thonon quarterback Brett Hunchak has struggled at times and has only thrown for 454 yards and five touchdowns in three games but has yet to be intercepted. Running back Nicolas Khandar has rushed for 145 yards and four scores. However, they will be facing one of the bottom four defenses in the league and could explode.

The Black Panthers will now face a Amiens Spartiates team that is still an unknown quantity despite two wins.

The Spartiates have had an interesting opening to the season, as they started off 2-0 before losing to the Flash 63-0. Their two wins came in close fashion against the Molosses and the Vikings, the two worst teams in the division, by scores of 19-14 and 20-13, respectively.

Amiens head coach Steeve Guersent relies on quarterback Cornelius Kinchen whose favorite targets are wide receivers Valentin Prioul and D’Angelo Chesson. Linebacker Ludovic Malleon is the Spartiates leading tackler with 14.5 so far while defensive back Theo Servant has recorded one interception so far.

This game will reveal where Amiens actually stand while Thonon needs a win to keep pace with the Flash.
