The Saint-Ouen L’Aumône Cougars travel to Asnières-sur-Seine in Paris to take on the Asnières Molosses Saturday, February 2 in the opening game of the French Federation of American Football for both teams.
These two teams faced each other twice in 2018, tying 7-7 in the first game. The Molosses won the second encounter though, 41-33 which qualified them for a playoff berth and eliminated Saint-Ouen from post season play.
So the Cougars will be looking for some payback today.
Is 2019 the year of success for the Molosses? Long time president Joëlle Lafollie called for a zero imports policy to reach the French final. So, young French QB, Camille Thouary, will lead the offense trying to connect with elite receivers and French national team and European Champions Marc Bony and Murphy Balame.
On defense, national team CB Amir Kilani will start the season in Asniere before he heads to Finland.
Head coach Arnaud Couanon-Vertueux has an impressive staff including Kevin Mwamba from the Flash and former national team player, Arnaud Mboutcha, also from the Flash and also former national team player, as well as ex Team France player Tony Niel, who is now the OL coach
For the Cougars, head coach Xavier Mas, back with his Cougars for the 19th year. To reach their goal, the team will follow the same strategy, never change a winning system. To reinforce the roster Luc Casey (West Virginia Wesleyan) has been brought to lead the team. Nick Tomkins (Darthmouth Ivy League) with his massive 6’4″, 285 lb frame will become as a powerful force on the defensive line.
