The defending French champions, the Thonon Black Panthers (2-1) will host the Rouen Leopards (1-2) in the fourth weekend of play in the French D1 Elite league Saturday, February 22.

These two teams played to a 34-34 tie in the first meeting between them in 2024 and the Black Panthers took the second contest 31-28.

Thonon opened the season with a tight 6-5 loss to arch rivals, La Courneuve Flash but came back a week later with a 10-8 win over newcomers to the league this year, the Villepinte Diables Rouges. Last week, the Black Panthers rolled over the Saint-Ouen Cougars 56-0.

The Leopards lost 33-6 to the Asnieres Molosses to open the 2025 season but rebounded with a 24-21 win over the Cougars. However, they suffered a 34-0 shutout at the hands of the Flash a week ago.

The Black Panthers boast the stingiest defense in the league having allowed just 14 points in three games. They are also playing at home, for the second game in a row. The edge definitely goes to Thonon.
