LIVESTREAM France: Nice Dauphins @ Grizzlys Catalans, April 28, 13:00 CET (1 pm, 7 am EDT)
The French D1 Elite league winds up its seventh weekend of action with a clash between the visiting Nice Dauphins (2-3) and the Grizzlys Catalans (4-1-1)
The Grizzlys sit second in the standings and opened the season in impressive fashion. Their first game against the Dauphins saw Catalans win 21-19. They then defeated Toulouse Ours 30-6 and then dominated the second place team in Group B, and previously unbeaten, the Cannes Iron Mask 45-7. They struggled for some reason against the lowly Aix Argonautes but finally got by them 22-14 but then suffered their first loss when the Marseille Blue Stars beat them 28-20. However, in the return game against Marseille, they battled them to a 14-14 tie.
The Dauphins meanwhile lost three of their first four games. After dropping the opening game to the Iron Mask 14-9, they lost to the Grizzlys 21-19 and the Marseille Blue Stars 13-7. In between they scored their first win, a 20-9 victory over the Toulouse Ours. They then got their revenge against the Iron Mask downing them 20-16.
Grizzlys quarterback Jaylen Tregle leads the league in passing having thrown for 1,270 yards and 15 touchdowns. His favorite target is Julien Vast with 18 catches for 314 yards and three touchdowns. Aymeric Guillemaud isn’t far behind with 16 receptions for 268 receptions and a score.
Nice second year head coach Yannick Fattorini will definitely be looking to get some offense out of his team. They have scored just 72 points in five games. French quarterback Sullivan Silverio has struggled with just 799 yards passing, and will need to find a way to get his team moving. The Dauphins defense has kept them in games however as they have surrendered just 78 points or 15.6 points a game.
