LIVESTREAM: France – Montpellier Hurricanes @Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons, Saturday, Feb. 23, 7p CEST (1p EST)
The Bron-Villeurbanne Falcons (0-2) will be trying to right the ship Saturday, February 23 at home in their home park in Villeurbanne, a suburb of Lyon, France when they face the 1-0 Montpellier Hurricanes.
The Falcons have suffered two embarrassing home losses to open the French Federation of American Football season. First they dropped a 35-6 decision to the Grenoble Centaures and then were whipped by the Marseilles Blue Stars 49-8.
Quarterback Arthur Penet has thrown for 273 yards and one touchdown in two games on 23 of 58 passing. He has also thrown four interceptions, all in the loss to Marseille. The Falcons leading rusher has been running back Rodrique Sama who has 106 yards rushing and one touchdown on 44 carries.
The Hurricanes defeated the Grenoble Centaures 46-25 in their only game so far this year. Their home opener was postponed at the last minute due to poor field conditions.
In the win over Grenoble, quarterback Hunter Hughes was superb, completing 19 of 25 passes for 390 yards and six touchdowns. The Falcons secondary will definitely be under pressure today.
Hughes leading receiver, Quentin Gramage had five receptions for 160 yards and four of those touchdowns while Adrien Darmana (110 yds, 1 TD) and Deric Manzolo (80 yds, 1 TD) were also keys in the win. Running back Teddy Bertrand carried the ball eight times for 47 yards in that game.
This could be a long game for the Falcons if they cannot find a way to get pressure on Hughes.
