The Les Cougars de Saint-Ouen-L’Aumône (1-1) will play host to the Molosses Football Asnières (0-2) as the French D1 Elite winds up the third round of play Sunday.
The Cougars opened the season with a 42-0 shut out win over the Villeneuve d’Ascq Vikings but then were edged by the defending champion Thonon Black Panthers 28-27. Molosses dropped a tough 19-14 loss to the Amiens Spartiates and then were walloped 40-6 by the La Courneuve Flash.
The Mollosians have several new players on offense this year, including quarterback Adrien Roux who moved over from the Dragons de Paris. Roux will be targeting receivers Elikem Selgala, Kenny Bonnot, and Maxence Buyoya as the offense looks to rebound from the tough loss last week. Roux will be handing off to speedy Kevin Carbeit who can cause problems.
The Cougars offense is led by quarterback Brody Hahn Muskingum (NCAA DII) who has thrown for 415 yards and eight touchdowns so far this year.
Defensively, Molosses may have one of the country’s top secondaries as Tancred Mennesson and Giovanni Bitodi are two new impact players.
The last time these two teams met was in the opening game of the 2020 season when Asnieres came away with a 34-7 win over the rebuilding (at the time) Cougars. The season lasted just three games that year before COVID-19 closed everything down.
