LIVESTREAM: France – Marseille Blue Stars @Montpellier Hurricanes, Sat. Feb. 15, 8p CET (2p ET)
The 0-1 Montpellier Hurricanes will host the 1-0 Marseille Blue Stars Saturday, February 15 in Montpellier, France as the French Federation of American Football Elite League heads into its second weekend of play.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 20-12 defeat at the hands of the Grenoble Centaures while Marseille whipped the Aix-en-Provence Argonauts 50-12.
The two teams met twice in 2019 with Marseille overwhelming the Hurricanes in both games, 50-26 and 50-0.
The Hurricanes offense will again be led by QB Austin Stubbs (Northwestern) who has spent three seasons playing in Europe, most recently in 2019 for the Walbrzych Miners in Poland, leading them to their first-ever playoff appearance. His key receiver is Team France’s Quentin Gramage. Gramage was the leading receiver in France from the opening game to the last in 2019 and wound up with 1,110 yards and 14 TDs.
Blue Stars quarterback Kaleb Scott threw for 157 yards and four touchdowns two weeks ago in the win over Aix-en-Provence. Wide receivers Vincent Monteiro and Brandon Camara caught two apiece while Florian Monduc and Florian Angelini each rushed for one touchdown. Expect a well-rounded offense again today that will test the Montpellier defense.
The Marseille offense is already looking potent and the Hurricanes will be hard pressed to keep it under control.
