The Marseille Blue Stars (0-0-1) take the 30 minute trip to Aix-en-Provence Saturday, February 1 to face the Aix Argonautes (0-1) in the French D1 Elite league’s second weekend of play.
The Blue Stars were held to a 14-14 tie last week by the Grizzlys Catalans while the Argonautes lost 34-27 to the Toulouse Ours.
Marseilles defeated the Argonautes 34-6 in the first meeting between these two teams last season but were held to a 21-21 tie in the second contest late in the year.
For the Argonautes, veteran Jason Gaines is behind center. He has returned to Europe after an absence and in last week’s loss, he completed 16 of 36 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. Alexandre Agnimel was the Argonautes’ leading receiver last week hauling in seven passes for 84 yards.
Blue Stars quarterback Brandon Gwinner tossed two touchdown passes in last week’s tie both to Dejion Lynch who had six catches for 131 yards to top the league.
This could be a long night for the Argonautes if they cannot keep the Gwinner-Lynch duo under control.
