LIVESTREAM: France – La Courneuve Flash @Saint-Ouen-L’Aumône Cougars Sunday March 4 2p (8a EST)
The unbeaten Saint-Ouen-L’Aumône Cougars (2-0) will play host to the 1-1 La Courneuve Flash Sunday in Saint-Ouen-L’Aumône, France.
This is the first meeting between these two teams in 2018. The last time they met in 2017, the Flash handed Saint-Ouen a 31-6 beating.
The Cougars opened the season by beating the Bron/Villeurbanne Falcons 53-21 and then followed up with a 33-13 win over the Rouen Leopards. La Courneuve were beaten by the Thonon Black Panthers 23-20 in their league opener, but rebounded by defeating Asnières sur Seine Molosses 29-3.
Cougars quarterback Jonathan Baker has looked impressive so far throwing for 487 yards and five touchdowns in two games. His counterpart with the Flash, Paul Durand has been steady with 291 yards passing and four touchdowns.
The difference in this game could come down to the running game and here the Flash have a clear edge. As a team, La Courneuve is averaging 169 yards per game on the ground with running back Nicolas Khandar doing most of the damage. In the opening game loss, he still rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Against Molosses he carried the ball 12 times for 64 yards. The Cougars are averaging half of that, 86.5 yards a game, with their leading rusher Isaac Amoako averaging just 56 yards a game.
In other words, the Cougars need to stop the Flash’s running game.
The Flash are the defending champions while the Cougars won the previous two titles (2015, 2016).
The stage is set for a great game.
