The Grizzlys Catalans (0-1-1) hit the road Saturday, February 22 when they travel to Toulouse to face the Toulouse Ours (2-0) as the French D1 Elite league heads into its four weekend of action.
These two teams faced each other twice in 2024 with each getting a win. The Grizzlys beat Toulouse 30-6 early in the season while the Ours earned a tough 12-10 victory in the third last game of the year.
The Ours opened the season with a 34-27 win over the Aix Argonautes and followed that up with a surprising 15-14 victory over the Marseille Blue Stars.
The Grizzlys opened the season against the Marseille Blue Stars, playing them to a 14-14 tie, precisely as they did in 2024. They then lost a 22-21 decision to the Cannes Iron Mask a week ago.
Grizzlys quarterback Alexander Fromberg leads the league in passing having thrown for 565 yards and two touchdowns in two games. He has thrown two interceptions however. Sean Boswell is his favorite target having caught eight passes for 170 yards and one touchdown. Running back Calum Davidson gives Catalans a solid ground game. He has rushed for 203 yards and three scores on 27 carries.
Toulouse is led by quarterback Olivier Roy has completed 21 of 36 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns and has not been picked off once. Timothe Labarriere has caught seven of those passes for 110 yards. The key to the Ours offense is running back Yanis Polin who leads the league having rushed for 304 yards and five touchdowns in two games.
This game pits the top passing team in the league in the Grizzlys against the leading rushing team.
