Due to terrible field conditions brought on by bad weather, the game between the Marseille Blue Stars and Grizzlys Catalans has been postponed for a second time.
The Grizzlys Catalans (2-0) finally make the trip to Marseilles to take on the Marseilles Blue Stars (1-0), Saturday, March 9 after the game was originally supposed to have been played earlier in the French D1 Elite season.
The Grizzlys were forced to postpone the game after the road to Marseille was tied up during the Farmers’ Strike in France.
Marseille opened the season with a 22-7 win over the Tuolouse Ours. Meanwhile, the Grizzlys downed the Nice Dauphins 21-19 and then rolled over Toulouse 30-6.
Catalans Spanish head coach Oscar Calatayud has got his team out to an outstanding start with quarterback Jayen Tregle (Southwestern Oregon, NAIA) looking sharp. In the win over Toulouse, Tregle threw three touchdown passes and ran another one in himself. Receivers Aymeric Guilllemaud, Loris Savalle and Idress Ramky all hauled in scoring passes from Tregle.
For Marseille, quarterback Hadrien Lynda is the key. In the victory over Toulouse, Lynda tossed a scoring pass to Gabriel Bisson and then ran another touchdown in himself. The Blue Stars defense added a touchdown of their own as Eddy Abdullah scored on a blocked punt.
The Blue Stars defeated the Grizzlys both times they met in 2023. Will this be the game to break the trend?
