The Marseilles Blue Stars (1-0) wind up the second round of play in the FFFA D1 Elite (Federation Francaise de Football Americain) as they play host to the 0-1 Aix Argonautes.

The Blue Stars looked as formidable as ever two weeks ago in beating the Catalans Grizzlys 26-14 and will be looking to improve their record to 2-0 when they host the Argonautes who lost 17-7 to the Toulouse Ours.

The Blue Stars raced out to a 20-7 halftime lead in the season opener against the Grizzlys and then cruised to the win. Quarterback Chase Andries threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns with receiver Vincent Monteiro as his key target hauling in seven passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Emmanuel Ntoutoume-Etoughe rushed for 66 yards. Receiver Pedro Pires Da Rosa Fernandes (who moved over from the Argonautes) is another weapon at Andries’ disposal.

The Argonautes will be in tough against a Marseilles squad bent on winning a title this season. The only import player they have announced so far is center Nick Wimmer from William & Mary (NCAA Div. I, FCS). They were only able to muster one touchdown against the Toulouse Ours two weeks ago. This will be a challenge for the team from Aix-en-Provence.
