The Toulouse Ours and Aix Argonautes square off on the opening weekend of action in the French D1 Elite league, Saturday, January 25 in Toulouse.

The two teams faced each other twice in 2024 with the Argonautes winning the first game 21-13 and Toulouse the second 14-13.

Neither team made the playoffs last season. Toulouse finished with a 5-5 record and the Argonautes 2-7-1.

The Ours have signed quarterback Braden Howell (Southwestern College, NAIA) who threw for 3,995 yards and 43 touchdowns in his two years there. He will definitely boost the Toulouse passing attack.

For the Argonautes, veteran Jason Gaines steps in behind center. He is returning to Europe after an absence. He played three games for the Argonautes in 202o before the season was cancelled due to covid. He spent the last part of the 2023 season with the Touraine Pionniers, helping them reach the semifinal round before being eliminated by eventual champions, the Thonon Black Panthers.

This game is a toss up so the advantage goes to the home team, the Ours.
