The Nice Dauphins (2-4) will be looking for an important win when they play host to the Aix Argonautes (1-5) Saturday, May 4 as the French D1 Elite league heads into the home stretch.

The Dauphins still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs but to do so a win today is a must.

The Dauphins put themselves in this situation after losing three of their first four games. After dropping the opening game to the Iron Mask 14-9, they lost to the Grizzlys 21-19 and the Marseille Blue Stars 13-7. In between they scored their first win, a 20-9 victory over the Toulouse Ours. They then got their revenge against the Iron Mask downing them 20-16 but fell again to the Grizzlys 13-0.

The Argonautes season looked to start of with a bang as they picked up a 21-13 win over the Toulouse Ours, but since that day it hasn’t looked good for the Argonautes as they have only managed to score 48 points across five games, losing to the Cannes Iron Mask 35-8, Marseille Blue Stars 34-6, the Catalans Grizzlys 22-14, Toulouse Ours 14-13 and the Cannes Iron Mask 11-7.

Nice second year head coach Yannick Fattorini will definitely be looking to get some offense out of his team. They have scored just 72 points in six games. French quarterback Sullivan Silverio has struggled with just 864 yards passing, and will need to find a way to get his team moving. The Dauphins defense has kept them in games however as they have surrendered just 91 points or 15.1 points a game.

For the Argonautes, quarterback Derek Green has struggled throwing for just 652 yards while running back Antoni Giglio has 249 yards rushing. The team has scored just 69 points in six games while giving up 130.

This could be a long day for the visitors.
