The Marseille Blue Stars (1-0) will host the Aix Argonautes (1-1) in the fourth full weekend of action in the French D1 Elite league, Saturday, March 16.

Marseille defeated the Toulouse Ours 22-7 in the opening game of their season while the Argonautes beat Toulouse 21-13 but then were downed by the Cannes Iron Mask 35-8.

In 2023. the Blue Stars defeated the Argonautes twice, 36-0 and then 7-0.

For Marseille, quarterback Hadrien Lynda is the key. In the victory over Toulouse, Lynda threw for 220 yards and a touchdown and then ran another touchdown in himself. However he was picked off three times. Receiver Gabriel Bisson was his favorite target with six receptions for 156 yards and a touchdown. The Blue Stars defense added a touchdown of their own as Eddy Abdullah scored on a blocked punt.

Argonautes head coach Emmanuel Maguet’s squad is led by quarterback Derek Green (Long Island University). Green is the son of NFL quarterback Trent Green and he too will need to inject some energy into the offense which only scored eight points in the loss to the Iron Mask. Green has only completed 13 of 33 passes for 114 yards. Still, running back Antoni Giglio gives the Argonautes a solid run game and he has 25 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Corentin Ducatillon isn’t far behind with 18 carries for 89 yards and a score.

Defensively, Maguet looks to GFL standout linebacker Jaymn Haddad as well as defensive back Chady Abdel Aal and linebacker Pierre Moreno.
