LIVESTREAM: Eurobowl XXXIII – Potsdam Royals vs Amsterdam Crusaders, Sat. June 8, 6p CEDT (12p EDT)
The Potsdam Royals, currently in fourth place in the German Football League North will face Holland’s Amsterdam Crusaders, runaway leaders in the Dutch league, in Eurobowl XXXIII Saturday, June 8, in Potsdam, Germany.
Normally, Eurobowl has been a final between two of the top teams in Europe but due to scheduling conflicts, this year’s edition is a one-game final.
The Royals have compiled a 2-2 record in the GFL losing to the Hildesheim Invaders 50-28 and New Yorker Lions 35-14 while defeating the Berlin Rebels 30-17 and the Dusseldorf Panther 34-17.
Potsdam quarterback Jacob Tucker did not play in last week’s game against the New Yorker Lions as Paul Zimmermann stepped in throwing for 170 yards and a touchdown.
Wide receiver Keevan Lucas has had 324 yards receiving in four games and is a dangerous target. Running back Gennadiy Adams has given the Royals a rushing attack and has carried the ball 62 times for 311 yards and 5 TDs. Another key addition has been LB Dustin Illetschko who anchors the front seven. He has already recorded 37 tackles in four games.
Amsterdam has dominated the league in Holland winning all nine games so far by lopsided scores and lost to the Cologne Crocodiles 35-14 in mid April.
The Crusaders spent the 2018 season playing only international games. They played against some of the top teams in Europe including the Cologne Crocodiles (Germany) Braunschweig New Yorker Lions (Germany), Frankfurt Universe (Germany), Graz Giants (Austria), Wasa Royals (Finland), Wroclaw Panthers (Poland) and Ostend Pirates (Belgium) compiling a 2-6 record.
Quarterback Jasper Nijland leads the league in passing yardage but will be in tough today against the seventh best defense in Germany.
