The reigning Swiss champion Calanda Broncos will open their European Football League season Sunday in Chur, Switzerland against Belgium’s 2017 runner ups, the Brussels Tigers.
This is the first ever meeting between these two teams.
The Tigers were pummeled 72-0 in their first game in the EFL by the Potsdam Royals from Germany two weeks ago. The second best team in Belgium will be hard pressed against a veteran Calanda Broncos team, ranked #13 in Europe.
The Broncos have opened their 2018 season in Switzerland with five straight wins and are runaway leaders in the Swiss American Football League. They are averaging almost 40 points a game while allowing only 10.
Brussels are in second place in the Belgian standings with a 3-1 record. They have won their last three games handily after dropping the opening game of the season to the Limburg Shotguns.
