The Thonon Black Panthers from France, AFI’s #14 team, and Spanish defending champion Badalona Dracs will clash Saturday, April 14 in a European Football League tournament second round battle.
The Black Panthers are the defending EFL champions after beating Italy’s Milano Rhinos in the 2017 final 29-20. Thonon tops the standings in the French Federation of American Football with a 4-1 record so far.
In the opening game of the tournament, Badalona lost a 23-10 decision to Italy’s Milano Seamen. The Dracs played in the Big6 tournament in 2017 losing to both Germany’s Braunschweig New Yorker Lions and Amsterdam Crusaders from Holland.
The last time these two teams met was in the 2016 EFL tournament when the Dracs pulled out a 46-41 win.
Kyle Boehm of the Thonon Black Panthers has thrown for 919 yards so far this season in France, good for second in the league, while his counterpart, Sergi Gonzalo is among the passing leaders in Spain while Dracs wide receiver Brandon Ravenel is among the touchdown leaders.
