LIVESTREAM DENMARK: Triangle Razorbacks @ Søllerød Gold Diggers, September 25, 14:00 CET (2 pm, 8 am ET)
The Triangle Razorbacks travel to Søllerød to take on of the top-seeded Gold Diggers in this Danish Nationalligaen semi-final matchup. Many fans are expecting a thrilling game today, as the Razorbacks have added new pieces and enter the postseason with reborn confidence. These teams met twice already in the regular season with the Gold Diggers winning both matchups.
The Triangle Razorbacks go into the postseason with a newfound swagger. Two weeks ago the team won its first game of the season behind a strong passing game from veteran Reed Gottula. Gottula was able to find recent addition Niko Lester, along with receiver Jeremy Cornelius, and tight Mark Meter. As with most games, however, today’s matchup will be determined in the trenches. Triangle Razorbacks lineman Magnus Møller on the matchup
““The motivation that last week’s win brought us has just created a snowball effect for our team. We are all so sure we are gonna win. The team we are playing has historically lost to use in the semi-finals”. He said “I feel good about it. It’s personal.”
Triangle Razorbacks @ Søllerød Gold Diggers, September 25, 14:00 CET (2 pm, 8 am ET)
The Razorbacks defense is coordinator by Wojciech Andrzejczak. The Polish coach will need a big game from linebacker Kenneth Bradley. The former Ithaca University (NCAA D3) Bomber has been a tackling machine for the Razorbacks making some of the biggest hits fans have seen this season. Recently signed athlete Niko Lester should be able to help in the secondary, while Alexander Klose will be battling in the trenches from his defensive end spot. If the Razorbacks can take advantage of the Gold Diggers young quarterback they will be right back in the Mermaid Bowl despite a rocky regular season.
That young passer is Andreas Sølling. The 20-year old signal-caller has grown into the role of the Gold Diggers quarterback, taking over under center in the final stretch of the season. Sølling previously played for the Danish U19 national team along with stops in the US at Pasadena high school and St. Johns University (NCAA D3). The 6’3 quarterback has caught fire late in the season connecting with Simon Føns and Jens Ole Kaae to create big plays. Sølling’s passing game is complemented by two great running backs in Christian Vahl and Edu Molina giving the Gold Diggers a versatile attack that can adjust to almost any defense. Sølling selflessly praises his teammates before the upcoming match:
“You must pay special attention to Christian Vahl as always! He is dangerous… but also Simon Føns, has not enough credit, he is huge and at the same time dangerously fast! ”
Even with a surging offense, the backbone of this Søllerød squad is defense. Linebacker Sam Taylor’s speed and aggressiveness have made it tough sledding for opposing running backs. At the line of scrimmage, 2020 All-Star defensive end Logan Dykstra (Sioux Falls NCAA D2) is an imposing force looking to wreak havoc in the backfield. Next to him, French defensive tackle Saliou Sale could also cause problems as his quickness has allowed him to blow by an interior lineman.
Søllerød has been through an adverse season and was still able to claim the playoff seed. Today they’ll look to take the next step towards the Mermaid Bowl in front of their loyal home fans. Standing in their way is a resilient and confident Razorbacks team eager to shock the Danish football scene.
