The Triangle Razorbacks (7-2) head into the unfriendly confines of Gentofte Stadion to face the unbeaten and reigning Danish champion Copenhagen Towers (8-0) Saturday, September 8 in Danish American Football League action.
In the first game between these two teams this year, Copenhagen downed the Razorbacks 47-39 in a shootout.
The Towers have enjoyed a remarkable season in 2018, capturing the Northern European Football League title, defeating Sweden’s Carlstad Crusaders in the final. Although they lost to the Swarco Raiders in the ultimate European final, they have put Danish American football on the map.
Copenhagen boast the top offense in Denmark having scored 370 points in eight games (46.25 pts/game) while giving up an average of 20.5. The Razorbacks meanwhile, although not scoring at the same pace (39.5 pts/game) have the best defense allowing just 13.7 points per game.
The Towers offense is potent with quarterback Randy Schroeder and running back/receiver Dayton Winn powering it along with tight end Jesper “Jelle” Hansen, who had three touchdowns in the win against the Aarhus Tigers last weekend. However, Copenhagen has to find a way to corral Razorbacks veteran running back Geoffrey Lewis who scored three touchdowns himself last week against the Oaks.
With only two weekends left in the season, the Towers have a chance to run the table and go undefeated into the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Razorbacks need to beat Copenhagen and then hope that the second place Aarhus Tigers lose their final game of the year in order to finish second.
