The Copenhagen Towers (2-1) will host the Triangle Razorbacks (0-3) under the lights tonight at Gentofte stadium in the Danish capital.
Both teams are eager to return to the field as they return from the six-week summer break. These two teams met once already this season way back on May 29th with the Towers winning 44-13 in Vejle. The Razorbacks are determined to redeem themselves and start the second half of the season with a win.
Randall Schroeder leads the title favorite Towers offense from the quarterback position. Schroeder was a key piece of the Tower’s last championship back in 2018. Now, three years later, he’s back and determined to recreate the same championship magic with the current Towers club. Expect him to throw the ball Jacob Green’s way, as the young Danish receiver has the speed, size, and hands to be one of the league’s best playmakers. In the run game, the Towers have options at running back. Anton Witmeur, Michel Konate, and Philip Andreasen are all capable ball carriers that can move the chains in Copenhagen’s run-heavy offense.
Triangle Razorbacks @ Copenhagen Towers, August 21, 19:00 CET (7 pm, 1 pm ET)
The Towers management stayed busy during the break adding receiver MJ Williams. Towers fans remember Williams from the 2020 season where the Concordia St. Paul University (NCAA D2) product was the team’s leading pass catcher, racking up five touchdowns in four games. Expect Williams to take over as Copenhagen’s go-to receiver and kick returner.
Defensively Copenhagen’s pass rush is one of the country’s best units. Defensive linemen Magnus Larsen has been a force pressuring quarterbacks consistently all season. In the secondary, Jakob Baekgaard and Kenneth Larsen-Ledetand match up well against the Razorbacks receiver’s speed. Expect the Towers to play with discipline and physicality against a run-based Razorbacks offense.
The Razorback’s efficient run game is led by speedy running back Mads Lorenzen. Lorenzen’s quickness and vision give the offense some consistency behind a massive offensive line. Expect linebacker Kenneth Bradley to get some carries as well. The 220-pound athlete has the size, strength, and quickness to run through arm tackles. However, as fans of the Danish National Ligaen know, this is veteran Reed Gottula’s team. The well-traveled quarterback will look to tuck and run the ball himself often behind an offensive line playing well this season. When passing, Gottula will look to target speedster 6’2″ Jeremy Cornelius as well as Danish talents veteran tight end Mark Meter and receiver Jacob Dahl Callesen.
Defensive coordinator Wojciech Andrzejczak has the Razorbacks unit flying to the ball. Linebacker Kenneth Bradley is the key to this game as his play against the Towers rushing attack will play a huge factor in the final score. At the line of scrimmage, young defensive end Aleksander Klose looks to tap into his potential and cause havoc in the backfield.
The Towers aim to defend their home turf and set the course for another championship season tonight. Across the field, the Triangle Razorbacks are a proud team with championship experience all over their roster. The experienced squad is determined to improve on their shaky start to the season. Expect this to be a hard-fought game as both teams are rejuvenated and eager to play football once again.
