LIVESTREAM: Denmark – Frederikssund Oaks @Copenhagen Towers, Sat. March 30, 2p CEST (9a EDT)
The defending champion Copenhagen Towers open the 2019 Danish National American Football League season at home at Gentofte Stadion facing the Frederiksund Oaks.
These two teams met only once in 2018 and that too was the season opener. The Towers came away clear winners, shutting out Frederiksund 40-0.
Copenhagen, who lost only one game in 2018, to Austria’s Swarco Raiders in the NEFL/CEFL championship final, enter the game with a new quarterback, Danny Higgins from Bridgewater State University. The club has also signed running back Ashton Heard from North Greenville University.
The Oaks, who finished their very first season in Denmark’s top league with a 3-7 record, have signed a pair of imports, linebacker Isiah Carter from the University of Southern Oregon and defensive lineman Darion Simmons from McKendree University.
The Towers, who have won the last two Mermaid Bowls, will be aiming for a three peat in 2019. They have not lost a game to a Danish team since the opening game of the 2017 season.
