LIVESTREAM: Denmark – Copenhagen Towers @Triangle Razorbacks, Sat. Aug. 31, 2p CEDT (8a EDT)
The 6-3 Triangle Razorbacks will play host to the 8-0 Copenhagen Towers as the Danish National League heads into the final game of the regular season.
These two teams met earlier this season with the Towers coming out on top 56-36.
Both teams are headed for the playoffs. The Razorbacks will face the Odense Badgers in a wild card matchup while the Towers have automatically qualified for the semifinals.
The Razorbacks lost their last outing getting walloped 62-28 by the surprising Aalborg 89ers. They have proven they can score points averaging almost 42 points a game but they have also been giving up almost 30. Meanwhile, Copenhagen unleashed their offense in the last game, overwhelming the second place Sollerod Gold Diggers 68-22.
Triangle has undergone some upheaval this season with the sudden departure of Kristian Worm as head coach after two games. Peter Nicolajsen, who was the offensive coordinator, took over and the team has gone 3-3 since.
Copenhagen has cruised through the season without a hiccup so far and boasts the second-highest scoring offense (51 pts/game) and the stingiest defense (24 pts/game). The Towers will be trying to stretch their unbeaten string to 32, a feat unmatched in Danish American football history. The last time Copenhagen lost a game to a Danish team was the opening game of the 2017 season when the Gold Diggers defeated them 30-26.
Copenhagen has also played a pair of international games, losing to Finland’s Helsinki Roosters 22-18 and downing the Stockholm Mean Machines from Sweden 28-25.
Quarterback Danny Higgins from Bridgewater State University has given the Towers a solid offense and running back Ashton Heard from North Greenville University provides an exciting running game. In the win over Stockholm, Heard rushed for 142 yards and caught a 75 yards pass, scoring three of the Towers touchdowns.
