The Aarhus Tigers (1-0) will play host to the defending champion 1-0 Copenhagen Towers in the second round of Denmark’s National League Saturday, April 13 at Bogeskovgard Idraetsanlaeg Viby field in Aarhus.
Aarhus opend the 2019 season last week with a 39-0 trouncing of the Odense Badgers while the Towers were easy winners over the Frederikssund Oaks, beating them 42-7.
These two teams met twice in 2018 with Copenhagen winning both games, 42-7 and 35-20.
The Tigers victory over Odense was not without a cost as starting quarterback Tim Morovick suffered a season-ending knee injury and the team has not yet announced his replacement. Running back Ricky Stevens will pick up the slack. Stevens was a key to the Tigers offense in 2018 and had a strong game against the Badgers last week.
Copenhagen will enter the game relatively healthy and with quarterback, Danny Higgins from Bridgewater State University. Running back Ashton Heard from North Greenville University is also a key to the offense. Although the Towers came out tentative last week against the Oaks and only led 12-7 at the half, they came together scoring 30 straight points in the second half as Higgins found his rhythm.
With Aarhus somewhat hobbled without Morovick, and unless they have a replacement in place, Copenhagen should have the edge.
