The 2-5 Aarhus Tigers will be on the road Saturday, September 7 when they face the 5-2 Søllerød Gold Diggers in the final regular season weekend in Denmark’s National League.
The Gold Diggers are coming off a lopsided 68-22 loss to the Copenhagen Towers while Aarhus defeated the Aalborg 89ers 48-38 last week.
For Søllerød, this game is simply a game to avoid injuries although they would like to have some momentum going into the playoffs. The Gold Diggers have a first round bye and will await the winner of the Wild Card Playoff between Aarhus and the Aalborg 89ers.
Tigers left-handed quarterback Isaiah Weed has given the offense some stability and paired with running back Ricky Stevens he can create problems. Stevens could have a good day today against a Gold Diggers defense that gave up 420 yards rushing against the Towers last week.
Gold Diggers quarterback Nick Rooney has thrown for 2,511 yards and 33 touchdowns in eight games this season and leads an offensive unit that has scored 337 points in seven games. Rooney’s key receiver is Thomas Ashworth who has caught 40 passes for 741 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games.
