The Triangle Razorbacks (1-2) will play host to the Aalborg 89ers (0-3) Sunday, August 14 as the Danish Nationalligaen returns following a month long break.
The two teams met once earlier in the season with the Razorbacks edging Aalborg 44-43 in a thriller.
The Razorbacks struggled against the Søllerød Gold Diggers in their season opener, losing 34-3 but then rebounded to beat Aalborg. They then fell to the Copenhagen Towers 34-17 right before the break. After falling 54-24 to the Gold Diggers to open the season, the 89ers lost to Copenhagen 36-12 before the loss to the Razorbacks.
Aalborg 89ers @ Triangle Razorbacks, Aug. 14, 16:00 CET (4 pm, 10:00 am ET)
For the Razorbacks, quarterback Reed Gottula continues to provide steady leadership and the veteran has former 89ers receiver Magnus Urth as one of his main targets. Speedy running back Mads Sjørslev will put the 89ers front seven to the test. Defensive back Rasmus Bukhave Knudsen from the Holstebro Dragons is one of the additions to the secondary.
89ers quarterback DeAndre Clayton (Morehead State) has shown he can run the offense well with wide out Jeppe Pedersen to throw to and running back Andreas Brandsen in the backfield. Aalborg has scored 79 points in the three games but given up a league-worst 134. For a chance of beating the Razorbacks, the 89ers defense will need to find a way to get the Gottula-Urth combination under control.
