LIVESTREAM CFL Preseason: Ottawa REDBLACKS @ Toronto Argonauts, June 2, 01:00 CET (1 am, 7 pm EDT)
The Ottawa REDBLACKS head to Alumni Stadium in Guelph, Ontario to face the Argonauts in the final Canadian Football League preseason matchup for both teams Thursday night, June 1.
The REDBLACKS suffered a 22-21 defeat at the hands of the Montreal Alouettes on May 27 in Ottawa while Toronto dropped a 27-22 decision to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats the same night in Hamilton.
For the Argonauts, replacing Grey Cup winning quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson is of course the key issue and so the performance of Chad Kelly tonight is important. He was pulled from last weekend’s loss early on with elbow tightness. It was a precautionary measure in a meaningless game to prevent any lingering, season-long concerns. Kelly’s health aside, this is a key game for the Argonauts projected starting pivot as he won’t get another chance to face real pressure until Week 2 since the Argonauts have a Week 1 bye.
Toronto head coach Ryan Dinwiddie says he just wants to see Kelly get a rhythm, in and out of the huddle, and Kelly himself believes just completing passes is the key,
For Ottawa, Nick Arbuckle proved in the game against Montreal that he can run the offense after throwing for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the first half with sophomore quarterback Tyrie Adams accounting for 105 yards and a score in the second half.
Ottawa opens their regular season on June 11 when they visit Montreal to play the Alouettes while the Argonauts have a bye and will host the Tiger-Cats on June 19.
