The Calgary Stampeders and BC Lions wind up their 2023 Canadian Football League preseason at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Thursday night.

The Lions fell 30-27 to the Saskatchewan Roughriders last weekend in Regina while Calgary beat the Elks 29-24 back on May 22 in the opening preseason game of 2023.

In the loss to the Roughriders, the Lions used veteran and former Tiger-Cats starting quarterback Dane Evans in the first half, turning to Dominique Davis and Judd Erickson in the second. The 29 year old Evans, who completed 13 of 16 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown in two quarters of play, cemented his spot as the back up to Vernon Adams Jr. who will no doubt be the starter in this one.

For Calgary, Jake Maier will get the start after only playing a part of the first quarter in the game against Edmonton. Backup Tommy Stevens played most of the rest of the first half with Logan Bonner and Chris Reynolds splitting time in the second half.

These two teams meet again for real on June 9 in Calgary to officially open the 2023 Canadian Football League regular season.
