LIVESTREAM: CEFL – Kragujevac Wild Boars (Serbia) @Wroclaw Panthers (Poland), Sat. May 11, 3p CEDT (9a EDT)
The Wroclaw Panthers have a chance to climb into control of the CEFL Eastern Conference when they play host to Serbia’s Kragujevac Wild Boars Saturday, May 11 at Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.
After being surprised by Switzerland’s Calanda Broncos 27-3 in their opening game, the Panthers rebounded against Turkey’s Koc Rams, overwhelming them 55-7.
Wroclaw debuted a new quarterback in the rout of the Rams, Tony Dawson, and he could prove to be a problem for the Wild Boars. He completed 17 of 22 passes for 261 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another 133 and four touchdowns. In other words, Dawson accounted for all eight touchdowns and 80% of the 481 yards of offense produced by the Panthers. His main receivers in that game were Radim Kalous who had two touchdown catches and Wiktor Zięba and Philipp Blechinger who had one each.
Still, Wroclaw head coach Val Gunn is cautious:
“We know we’re in for a battle against the Wild Boars. They’re a very physical team defensively and have an explosive offense. For us to get the win, we’ll need to play a complete game. It is an advantage for us to be at home and with our fans in the stadium. Hopefully the weather will be better and we can stay healthy.”
The Wild Boars posted a 53-36 win over the Rams in their CEFL opening game. QB Jake Sisson threw five touchdown passes, four of them to game MVP Pedro Medici and ran another one in himself, while Nebojša Mirković scored on a fumble recovery. Stefan Borković also scored on a touchdown reception. Petar Goic kicked six extra points and added a two-point conversion.
Kragujevac remains unbeaten in the Serbian League of American Football averaging almost 50 points a game.
This will be two high octane offenses going head to head.
