The Turkish defending champions, the Koc Rams from Istanbul travel to Kragujevac, Serbia to take on the Serbian reigning champion Kragujevac Wild Boars in the opening round of Central European Football League tournament.
The Rams defeated Kragujevac 47-41 in last year’s tournament en route to a finals berth where they lost to the Swarco Raiders, 49-20. Kragujevac defeated the Rams two years ago in the opening round 21-14, and eventually moved on to the final where they too were downed by Swarco.
Both teams have opened their own seasons with wins. The Wild Boars are 2-0 in Serbian league play while Koc has won its first game of the season in the Turkish American Football league.
Wild Boars quarterback Jake Sisson, has thrown four touchdown passes and rushed for two more so far while running back Nick LaSane has rushed for five majors. Brazilian wide receiver Pedro Enrico Medici has proven to be ultra dangerous with three touchdowns on the year including a 87 yard kickoff return touchdown.
Winners of the past two titles in Turkey, the Rams are gearing up to challenge again. They have re-signed quarterback David Whipple and brought in Darius Lewis and running back Josh Quezada. Talented Serbian WR Strahinja Stepovic has also joined the team along with a number of other key additions. Head coach Saygun Ofluoglu who helped found the team, will have another powerhouse.
This will be another tough and exciting game
