LIVESTREAM CEFL Bowl XVIII: Danube Dragons @ Calanda Broncos, June 22, 18:30 CET (6:30 pm, 12:30 pm EDT)
Swiss champions, the Calanda Broncos, will take on defending Austrian Football League champions, the Danube Dragons, Saturday, June 22 in Chur, Switzerland in the 2024 Central European Football League title game, CEFL Bowl XVIII.
For Danube, this is their first trip to the final while it’s the second time the Broncos have reached the title game. They hosted CEFL Bowl XIV in 2019 but lost a heartbreaker to Austria’s Tirol Raiders, 42-46.
To reach the final, the Broncos defeated defending title holders, La Courneuve Flash from France in the semifinal, blanking them 14-0 in Paris. They had lost in the 2021 semifinal round 35-21 to the eventual champions, the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns. Calanda played in all the previous rounds. They faced Danish champions, the Copenhagen Towers in the first, beating them handily, 33-10. Next they traveled to Italy to take on the defending Italian champions, the Parma Panthers in the second round, and returned home with a 34-20 victory. The Swiss team top their national league with 9-0 record with one game left in the regular season.

In the other semifinal, Danube beat 2023 CEFL finalists, France’s Thonon Black Panthers 12-7 after trailing 7-0 at the half. The Dragons had defeated Italy’s Firenze Guelfi 45-20 in the quarterfinal round.
Behind center for the Broncos is their own 21-year-old talent, Robin Sennrich. He has thrown five touchdown passes while rushing for another three. Wide receiver Maxwell Gray has been his main target hauling in all five touchdown passes. score three touchdowns in the first round win over Copenhagen and added another against Parma. Andre Blackett Jr. who usually plays linebacker, added to the production with a rushing score in Parma.
Austrian quarterback Alexander Thury started both games for Danube throwing three touchdown passes. Germany’s Lukas Schramm subbed in for Thury late in the win over Firenze. Running back Madre London was a dangerous weapon adding three touchdowns of his own in two games.
