On Sunday, the SGS Bristol Aztecs (2-1) will host the Cambridgeshire Cats (1-4) in week eight of the British American Football Association Premiership.
Cambridgeshire, who last year gained promotion to the Premiership after an impressive run that saw them claim the Division 1 South championship, have struggled this season to say the least.
Their first game saw them enter half-time 14-14 with the Solent Thrashers, before being left in the dust as the game ended 41-20 in favor of the Thrashers. Shortly after, however, the Cats managed to overcome the Thrashers 45-20 in the return fixture.
Aside from the bizarre flip of results with Solent, there haven’t been many moments for Cambridgeshire to celebrate, taking three big losses – two coming to the London Blitz and the other to the London Warriors, both of whom are currently undefeated.
Despite conceding 53 points to the ever-dominant London Warriors, they managed to put up 14 points, which is definitely a positive in comparison to other Warriors’ scorelines this season.
The Aztecs are coming off a dominant 43-0 performance against a struggling Kent Exiles squad. The game began with a kickoff return touchdown, immediately setting the tone for the game. Ex-University of Pennsylvania (NCAA DI) star running back Karekin Brooks showed his experience and athleticism all game, from scoring a touchdown on his second carry, to breaking through tackles and embarrassing defenders any time he had the ball.
After a win that was not remotely challenging for the Aztecs, they will be looking to up the levels even further as they face a Cambridgeshire Cats side that has shown they can put up points and win games, despite the tough schedule they have faced so far.
