The Limburg Shotguns (3-2) will play host to the Amsterdam Crusaders (5-1) in Beringen, Belgium as the BNL league heads into the sixth round of play.
This is the second meeting of the year between these two teams. Amsterdam won the first game 47-12.
This has been an up and down year for Limburg. After opening the season with a lopsided 61-0 win over the Kasteel Nitro’s, they were beaten by Amsterdam and then edged 28-21 by the Brussels Black Angels. They rebounded with a 53-0 victory over Ghent and then beat the Nitro’s 38-0 two weeks ago.
Amsterdam looked invincible for much of the season. They opened the season with a 30-12 win over the Kasteel Nitro’s and then followed that up with a 44-0 blanking of the Ghent Gators before beating the Limburg Shotguns 47-10. They beat the Nitro’s again, this time by a score of 38-0 but then ran into a red hot Brussels Black Angels squad who beat them 17-14.
Limburg has added quarterback Raleigh Yeldell to the lineup to replace Jabari Harris who was injured earlier in the year. He could cause problems for the Crusaders.
Amsterdam relies on quarterbacks Jasper Nijland and Jordi Anrochte while running backs Berto Stuit and Mani Blijd anchor the backfield.
Although the Crusaders won the first game between these two handily, this could be a different story with the Shotguns playing in front of their home crowd.
