LIVESTREAM: Austria – SonicWall Mödling Rangers @Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants, June 3, 3p (9a EST)
The Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants (5-3) will take on the SonicWall Mödling Rangers (4-4) Sunday, June 3 at Stadion Eggenberg in Graz, Austria in the second last game of the regular season for both teams in the Austrian Football League.
The Giants are on a four-game winning streak. The last time they lost a game was to Mödling, a 36-34 thriller six weeks ago. Meanwhile, Mödling has lost their last three games and badly needs a win.
The Rangers lead the Austrian Football League in rushing averaging 211.4 yards a game, with quarterback Dylan Potts the league leader with 990 yards and a league-best 14 TDs. Graz has by far the best defense against the run allowing 108 yards a game. Mödling wide receiver, Roman Namdar leads the Austria in receiving yardage with 936 yards, despite missing the last game. New arrival Jake Isabel had a good debut game for the Rangers scoring two touchdowns. He also made his mark on special teams with a spectacular punt return and also a tackle.
Giants running back Matthias Kiegerl is the second leading rusher in Austria with 691 yards and 10 touchdowns while quarterback Robert Gallik has thrown for 1,552 yards and 16 touchdowns.
On defense, Rangers linebacker Barron Miller is the leading tackler in the league with 61.5 total tackles. However, Giants LB Thomas Schnurrer is now 2nd with 47 tackles.
In other words, not much separates these two teams. Up for grabs is home field advantage in the wild card playoffs although with the Vikings faltering, there is a chance for Graz to qualify for the semifinals with wins in the final two games. They face Vienna in the last game of the year.
