LIVESTREAM: Austria – Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants @Prague Black Panthers Sunday, April 7, 3p CEDT (9a EDT)
The 1-1 Prague Black Panthers will be at home in SK Prosek stadium in Prague, Czech Republic, Sunday, April 7 when they play host to the 0-2 Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants in the third round of the Austrian Football League.
The Black Panthers, who have returned to the Austrian Football League after a two-year hiatus in the Czech League of American Football, have opened the season with mixed results. In the highly publicized first game against the Dacia Vienna Vikings, Prague struggled, managing just one touchdowns in a 28-7 loss. Last week, they rebounded, showing no mercy as they pounded the Amstetten Thunder 51-6.
Starting quarterback Dylan Potts suffered an injury in that opening day loss to Vienna and last week veteran Emmanuel Lewis stepped in on a temporary basis. Lewis threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns and will likely start again today against Graz. Prague running back Herbert Gamboa is already the second leading rusher in the AFL with 261 yards and three touchdowns and combined with Lewis’ arm and savvy will make a formidable offensive attack.
The Giants have dropped two close games, 12-10 to arch rivals, the Danube Dragons, and 45-39 to the Mödling Rangers.
Despite the two losses, the Giants offense has has performed well, scoring 49 points in two games and averaging 343 yards per game. Quarterback Jake Kennedy has thrown for 461 yards in the two games, which, together with running back Alexander Sanz’s 120 yards on 21 carries, can prove effective.
Still, the edge in this game would have to go to the home team, Prague Black Panthers.
