The undefeated Dacia Vienna Vikings (3-0) will host the Prague Black Panthers (0-2) this Sunday, May 9 as the Austrian Football League winds up its fifth weekend of play.
The Vikings are determined to stay undefeated and on top of the standings, while Prague has been close to earning a win this season but haven’t been able to put away their opponents in close games.
The Prague Black Panthers played an intense game last week, falling to the Swarco Raiders Tirol 22-14. The Black Panthers led 14-3 in the third quarter but were unable to handle a strong fourth quarter from the reigning Austrian champions. One standout was Nolan Corpening. The former North Carolina Central University defender made an impact in all three phases of the game using his speed and toughness as to both bring down ball carriers and pick up yards with the ball in his hands.

Expect Black Panthers quarterback Zach Greenlee to keep feeding him today as the two were able to connect for a touchdown and 92 yards in last week’s game.
Greenlee on the team being so close to a win and the upcoming matchup with Vienna:
I love our attitude at practice, and we’ll continue to get better. Our team has a lot of fight in us and we will need to bring that for all four quarters. Vienna is a great team all around, so we’ll have to be strong in all aspects.
The Vikings are sitting pretty as the number one team in Austria at the moment. Their big win against the Swarco Raiders helped them show Austrian Football League fans that they are looking to get back to hoisting the Austrian Bowl trophy for the first time since 2017. One key to their success this season has been the dynamic play of quarterback Eystin Salum. The young signal caller has been slowly building chemistry with his receivers throughout the season and recently, has been targeting former LA Chargers receiver Mitchell Paige more often as the two look to build chemistry after minimal preseason reps together.
Paige discusses the process of playing with a new quarterback:
Building chemistry takes time. It was a different situation with Eystin and I coming over a bit closer to the season. It’s fun to think that each week we get to take a step towards the offense that I know we can be. We are excited for the challenge that Prague brings after them playing so well the last few weeks.
Expect the Vikings to play well at home in this one, as their fans are excited to see if they can extend their win streak. The visiting Black Panthers are eager to pull off the upset as they look to get their first win of the season on Sunday.
