The winless Salzburg Ducks (0-3) will attempt to snap the losing streak when they host the Mödling Rangers (2-2), Sunday, May 8 at Maz-Aicher Stadion in Salzburg as the Austrian Football League winds up the fourth round of play.
The Ducks were beaten by the Danube Dragons 31-21 to open the season and the Prague Black Panthers, 17-7. They then lost a heartbreaker to the Vienna Vikings 14-13 last week. Meanwhile, after being manhandled 48-14 by the Prague Black Panthers, the Rangers went on to win two straight, beating the Telfs Patriots 20-10 and the Graz Giants 26-25. They were then brought down to earth last week by the Danube Dragons who beat them 42-14.
The Ducks are led by American quarterback Kris Denton who has thrown for only 536 yards and two touchdowns in four games. His leading receiver, Noah Toure, has caught nine passes for 126 yards and one touchdown while Andreas Drechsler has caught eight for 124 and the other touchdown. The Salzburg ground game is led by Denton who has rushed for 136 yards
The Mödling Rangers offense will need to step up against a Ducks defense which is number one in the league against the pass allowing an average of just 148.7 yards per game and fourth overall against the run giving up 104.7 a contest.
Starting Rangers quarterback Benjamin Bräuer has thrown for 485 yards and five touchdowns in the four games and also leads the team in rushing with 228 yards on 41 carries. His favorite targets are Emil Eckerstorfer whoe has 15 catches for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Zach de Nike with 15 receptions for 171 yards and two scores.
On defense, Charleus Dieuseul has 16.5 tackles to lead the team with Markus Bernas and Maximillian Morawetz not far behind with 12.5 total tackles each.
