The 1-8 Bratislava Monarchs head to Mödling , Austria Saturday June 16 to take on the 4-5 SonicWall Mödling Rangers in the final game of the Austrian Football League season for both teams.

In the first game between these two earlier this year, the Rangers won easily, beating Bratislava 49-13 behind an incredible performance by quarterback Dylan Potts who rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns while throwing for 236 yards and another three scores.

Both teams enter this game on four game losing streaks with the Rangers dropping a disappointing 36-0 decision to the Graz Giants two weeks ago. Bratislava were trounced 64-7 by the Dacia Vienna Vikings in their last outing.

Mödling’s offense is averaging a decent 32 points a game but the defense has been giving up 34. The Monarchs have scored an average of only 16 points a game allowing 43 a game on average.

Potts holds on to top spot in the rushing yardage list in the Austrian Football League with 988 yards and a league-best 14 TDs. Potts was bumped down to 4th overall in passing yardage though after 9 games and now has 2,194 yards and 17 TDs. Bratislava QB David Vega has thrown for 1,838 yares and 18 TDs, good for sixth overall in Austria.

This will be a game of pride for both teams. The Rangers have qualified for the wild card playoffs already but cannot gain home field advantage with a win. For Bratislava, the best they could hope for would be to climb out of the basement in the standings with a victory and then hope the the Traun Steelsharks lose their game against the Ljubljana Silverhawks.
