LIVESTREAM: Austria – Amstetten Thunder @Prague Black Panthers, Sat. March 30, 3p CEST (10a EDT)
The 0-1 Prague Black Panthers from the Czech Republic will aim to get into the win column Saturday, March 30 when they play host to the 0-1 Amstetten Thunder at SK Prosek Praha sports complex in Prague in the second round of the Austrian Football League.
Prague dropped a 28-7 decision to the Dacia Vienna Vikings last week while the Thunder were hammered 48-7 by the Swarco Raiders.
In the Black Panthers loss, starting quarterback Dylan Potts suffered an injury in the third quarter which will keep him out of action for the next six weeks. In his place this week Prague head coach Daniel Levy will start veteran quarterback Emmanuel Lewis. The 31 year old Lewis helped the Frankfurt Universe to an undefeated season in 2015 on their move up to the German Football League. Since then he has played for the Marburg Mercenaries (German Football League), Minsk Zubrs (Belarus) Yeditepe Eagles (Turkey) and been offensive coordinator of Holland’s Amsterdam Crusaders.
Thunder quarterback Lukas Kerschbaummayr had a tough game in the loss to the Swarco Raiders last week as he only managed 83 yards passing although he completed 16 of 26 passes. Running back Patrick Poetsch scored the lone touchdown for Amstetten while gaining 61 yards on 17 carries.
Both teams are new to the Austrian Football League this year. Prague played only in the Czech league in 2018 after many years of competing in both the Czech Republic and Austria. Amstetten won the Division 2 title in Austria in 2018 to qualify for play in the AFL.
