LIVE STREAM: Alps Bowl III – Team Italy v Switzerland Sunday Jan. 28 1p (7a ET)

Team Italy, or Blue Team, will play host to Switzerland in Alps Bowl III this Sunday at the Arcoveggio Sports Center in Bologna in a game which is becoming a heated rivalry.

Three years ago, Team Italy defeated the Swiss 30-19 in Pero, Italy and a year later Switzerland avenged the loss in a 12-9 come-from-behind victory over Italy.

Both head coaches, Davide Giuliano (Italy) and Chris Winter (Switzerland) see this as the ideal way to kick the year off. Switzerland last saw action in a loss to Poland in 2017. Meanwhile, Italy has not seen the field since beating Serbia in 2016.

Team Italy, with a roster of 67, is eager to play this game according to Giuliano:

“Emotions are running just as high before this Alps Bowl as they do before any other game. We know we’ve done a good job in training and we can’t wait to get out there to make up for that disappointing defeat at the hands of the Swiss in the second Alps Bowl. Our opponent is a well-trained team on the rise. They played very well against Poland last winter and I know this game will be no walk in the park. I have great respect for Coach Winter and I hope it will be a fierce game.”

Italy will be expected to start Milano Seamen’s Italian Bowl winning quarterback Luke Zahradka while Switzerland will likely go with Richi Wartmann, starting quarterback for the Winterthur Warriors.
