The reigning and back-to-back Polish champions, the Wroclaw Panthers (2-0) head to Gdynia to face long-time rivals, the Gdynia Seahawks (2-0) in a battle of unbeatens in Poland’s Liga Futbolu Amerykańskiego (League of American Football)..
The last time these two teams met was in the Polish championship game when Wroclaw outclassed the Seahawks 55-21.
Each team was won its opening two games of the season. The Panthers defeated the Bialystok Lowlanders 37-13 and the Tychy Falcons 57-17 while Gdynia took care of the Falcons 40-14 and edged Bialystok 18-15.
Wroclaw has scored 94 points in two games while giving up an average of 15. The Seahawks have averaged 29 points a game while surrendering 29 in two games.
Panthers head coach Nick Johansen, in his fourth year with the club, has built a powerhouse of a team winning the last two Polish championships and pushing Austria’s Swarco Raiders to the limits in a Central European Football League game in 2017. He also led the Panthers to the Champions League crown in 2016.
Returning at quarterback for Wroclaw this season is Tim Morovick who was both the league MVP and championship finals MVP in 2017. Joining the club on the defensive side is defensive back Desmond Cooper who played for the Sollerod Gold Diggers in 2017 after spending time with theJacksonville Jaguars.
Gdynia’s Joey Bradley has had an impressive run in Europe since arriving in Portugal with the Lisbon Devils. He led Lisbon to two straight Portuguese titles before arriving in Poland partway through the 2017 season. He helped guide the Seahawks to the Polish final losing to the Wroclaw Panthers.
